After catching the bus from Sutton Bank to Helmsley, we began the first leg of the Cleveland Way. Not before certain members of the group had stocked up on delicious cakes from the bakery in Helmsley, though! We caught a beautiful view of Rievaulx Abbey in the sun before heading towards the village of Cold Kirby.
The walk included a very scenic lunch stop, where we basked in the sun whilst eating our lunches - and watched in amazement as a woman walked past with a Jack Russell Terrier dressed in a T-Shirt and Baseball cap. As we headed towards the White Horse, we saw gliders catapulting themselves off cliffs, and certain members of the group had 'hair raising experiences' as they nearly lost their hats in the wind. After the ten-mile walk, we were rewarded with a stop at the Sutton Bank Visitors' Centre tearooms - which the hungry walkers nearly cleared out of cake, as usual!
